Nota de prensa: La Alianza convoca el 26N a todos los actores socio-económicos e institucionales a la Mesa por la Emergencia Climática de Málaga para transformar la ciudad
Málaga, España 13 de Noviembre 2019
Fruto de las innegables evidencias científicas (más de 11,000 científicos de todo el mundo alertaron la semana pasada), y la presión ciudadana creciente, la Universidad de Málaga, la Diputación de Málaga y el Ayuntamiento de Málaga han declarado recientemente el estado de emergencia climática y ecológica, al igual que decenas de municipios y regiones de toda España, y más de 1,100 jurisdicciones y gobiernos locales globalmente, cubriendo a 290 millones de personas.
En aras de que dichas importantes declaraciones no queden en meras palabras vacías en Málaga, especialmente si queremos dar ejemplo al mundo con la Cumbre del Clima de Naciones Unidas (COP25), sino que se reflejen en planes de acción y movilización de recursos a la altura de los consensos científicos y las demandas sociales, la Alianza Malagueña por la Emergencia Climática y Ecológica impulsa la primera convocatoria de la Mesa por la Emergencia Climática y Ecológica de Málaga que tendrá lugar el 26 de Noviembre a las 18h30 en el Salón de Grados de la Facultad de Económicas de la Universidad de Málaga (Campus El Ejido).
La Mesa se conforma como un espacio abierto de diálogo y co-creación en el que todos los agentes socio-económicos del municipio y provincia, incluidos aquellos relacionados directamente con las emergencias y la sanidad, nos pongamos a trabajar en las estrategias, medidas y actuaciones de una transición económica rápida y justa (grupos vulnerables y trabajadores de sectores más contaminantes en el centro) que nos permita afrontar con garantías la emergencia climática, ecológica y social. Se inspira en casos de éxito como la Mesa por la Emergencia Climática de Barcelona. El consenso de la comunidad científica internacional es nítido: 2020 es el límite para poner sobre la mesa las medidas políticas que catalicen el cambio necesario.
En esta 1ª convocatoria de la Mesa del 26N, se presentarán las evidencias científicas y sociales subyacentes a la declaración, en concreto: el diagnóstico del Plan del Clima del OMAU (emisiones, escenarios, vulnerabilidades y primero resultados de la participación), y el informe “Valoración científica de la idoneidad e implicaciones de la Declaración de Emergencia Climática en el Municipio de Málaga”, elaborado y firmado por 41 profesionales de la ciencia y la educación en Málaga, incluyendo 9 catedráticos. Se contará también con la presencia telemática de un miembro de la organización de la Mesa de Barcelona.
La Alianza es un movimiento ciudadano, abierto, diverso y apartidista cuyo fin es sensibilizar e incidir políticamente para que la sociedad malagueña sea consciente del estado de emergencia climática y ecológica en que se encuentra nuestra ciudad, provincia y planeta, y actúe en concordancia. Está formada por más de 30 colectivos y 140 personas de una diversa sociedad civil. Así mismo, es integrante de la Alianza estatal junto con más de 40 entidades de todo el Estado. Entre sus acciones más recientes y notorias destaca la Huelga Global por el Clima del pasado 27 de septiembre en cuya manifestación final hubo más de 10,000 personas en Málaga y 7,6 millones por todo el mundo.
